Do I have to volunteer during the school day in order for my child to attend WPNS?

Yes! Parents are required to work two shifts in the classroom. 8:50 - 1:00. Sign ups are on the volunteer dashboard. Classroom Shift Sign Up

How old does my child need to be to attend WPNS?

WPNS welcomes students starting at age 2. Post COVID 19, we look forward to re-offering our wonderful U & Me program for toddlers that requires parents to stay and be part of the fun.

Does my child need to be potty trained?

No, your child does not need to be potty trained to attend WPNS.

What are the hours of your school?

The school opens at 8 AM and closes at 5 PM daily.

Is WPNS open during the summer?

WPNS continues our regular preschool schedule year round. In the summer we also offer a camp option with a customizable schedule.

How can I arrange a tour of the school?

Are families expected to donate or fundraise for the school?

Yes, families are expected to fundraise. We offer lots of resources and support for this! Donations are not mandatory, but always welcome.

Parent Participation

What does it mean to be a “working parent” at WPNS?

A working parent is on the floor, playing with students, assisting teachers and will have a designated area of the school to help manage.

What are the expectations for parents at WPNS?

Monthly membership meetings are mandatory, each family must attend at least two parent education classes, and parents are asked to perform service hours.

Parents also take an active role in school activities. We love our families and what they bring to our school!

Co-Op is simply to be “cooperative.” We work side by side with parents and families to foster growth, learning and an overall sense of community and belonging.

We have been serving Westchester and the surrounding areas for almost SEVENTY years!

How does play prepare my child for kindergarten?

WPNS teachers focus on the social and emotional needs by teaching through play. Our children are taught to regulate and understand their emotions and the emotions of their peers to better prepare them, not only for kinder, but for their future!

Is WPNS a school that my child will come home messy from?

YES! Absolutely, we pride ourselves in allowing exploration (which usually involves mess!) and sensory learning as often as possible.
